PROPHET BIO
Born and raised in the foggy city of San Francisco, Prophet’s unique musicality grew from the ever-original Bay Area Hip-Hop scene and his tragic struggle through life. Progressing from a vandalizing graffiti artist to a verbose MC, Prophet utilizes the same fundamentals of visual art, creation and expression in his audio mastery.
Art from pain exemplifies Prophet. Born in turmoil to an entrenched Columbian drug smuggler and catholic hippy, Prophet survived and eventually flourished in a life earmarked for negativity and hard knocks. He bounced from family member to family member. His mother left him. His father was diagnosed with cancer. Prophet soon found himself alone and doing whatever to scrape by. Whether shopping for new clothes at his school’s lost and found or selling drugs on the corner, Prophet’s young life carried the experience of a tested veteran all before turning 17 years old.
To destroy is easy, but to heal is truly difficult. Prophet transcended his reality by turning to art and the pursuit of art. Evolving from freestyling in the streets to rhyming on beats, Prophet now tells his story to escape it. Prophet’s recent collaborations with Ryan Tedder, Paula Deanda, Hillary Duff and Enrique Iglesias prove his commercial ability to crossover from the streets to the charts.
